OUR HISTORY
Why don't you just buy a bunch of bikes now and do your own thing?
Because that would be crazy.
Okay, I'm gonna do it.
Upcycle Fitness opened in Downtown Collingswood in May 2015 when founder, Kim Goodman, decided to go all-in on a goal that she had dreamed up for 5-10 years in the future. There were no indoor cycling specific studios in the area that fit what she wanted: a place without all the bells and whistles, where you could focus on your body and your body alone while connecting with like-minded people in a comfortable environment. No mirrors, no rave lighting, no distractions or judgment. Just you and your bike and your body.
The perfect studio space opened up at 688 Haddon Ave and after one late-night conversation with a guy Kim had only started dating a few months prior (future husband and co-owner, Jake), she decided it was now or never.
Upcycle grew and quickly outgrew that original space. After a little over one year in a tiny 700 square foot studio with no more air conditioning than a little window unit and some ceiling fans, a building became available the next block over. [In case you were wondering, the building went up for sale on Kim’s birthday, which she took as a major sign. There were also some tarot cards and crystals involved, but we won’t get too woo-woo on ya. Just know that our space at 716 Haddon Ave is where we were meant to land, right when we landed there.]
In January 2018, after gutting and renovating the entire building, Upcycle was ready to open in our forever studio home at 716 Haddon Ave. With a larger space and two studio rooms, there was plenty of space to expand our class offerings to include barre, yoga and HIIT-style classes plus combos of each. Kim brought on her now husband, Jake, as co-owner of Upcycle and the two also owned and operated a smoothie bar in the cafe space up front...for about a year before Kim came home one day and said "I hate this. We're shutting it down."
In March of 2020 (yep, that March 2020), Kim met Krystina, the owner of a juice company who was looking for a space to open her business. It was pretty kismet how they met and they knew right away this was the perfect fit for both -- the rest, as they say, is history.
After more than 8 years in business, a few bumps in the road and a couple years of a global pandemic [that we intentionally skipped over in this story because we really don't want to talk about it], we're excited for what the future continues to hold for this little dream business of ours. We hope you'll come along for the ride. Pun very much intended.

A TRULY NO-JUDGEMENT SPACE
We're very aware that fitness spaces can sometimes feel intimidating for any number of reasons. If you're uncoordinated, it's okay - you go right, we'll go left, we'll all be okay in the end. If you haven't worked out in a while, it's okay - we get that it's hard to get back into a routine and we're here to ease you back in. Our number one goal when you enter our studio is that you feel comfortable and safe to do what works for your individual body - whatever that looks like.
In order to provide a safe, comfortable environment for all who are attending, we don't take photos or videos in our classes.
If we are having photos or videos taken for our website or social media, everyone in the class will have advanced notice.
